In this type of gold plating, the gold is mechanically bonded to a base metal using lots of heat and pressure. It is set by law, that around 5% of the weight of gold filled jewellery must be made of real gold. The gold plating is therefore around 50 to 100 times thicker than the gold layer on standard gold platings. This makes the jewellery more valuable and durable. In general: avoid contact with liquids, perfumes and lotions or chemical cleaning agents. Ideally, do not wear the jewellery while showering or exercising.
